It has triangular cutwaters which continue up the spandrels as rounded pillars. It is quietly but effectively decorated, firstly by the way the stones are arranged with large blocks alternating with smaller ones set the opposite way (a technique known as Aberdeen sets), and secondly by the voussoirs which are alternate blocks of dark schist and lighter granite, giving a striped effect. There is a string course and an unusual open box decoration on the tops of the pillars, which also have slits in them. [1]
