It is a fish-or lens-shaped iron truss, formed of two convex curves. The truss rests on granite abutments which extend into corbelled pillars which have a slice cut off their inner sides so that a slot can be made to hold the joined ends of the two curved girders. The slot is 4 feet from the deck and the height of the truss at the centre is 8 feet. The roadway, planking on iron girders, is hung from vertical lattice girders which are 10 feet apart. [1]
