It is rather more decorated than was usual. Perhaps the citizens put some money into the project. It has a double string course outlining the gentle rise of the roadway and the spandrels have tapering buttresses which terminate as narrow pilasters, and are finished off, at the parapet, with rectangular blocks. Again the string course articulates these shapes. [1]
