It has five spans (40, 50, 60, 50, 40 ft) and is built of dressed sandstone of a particularly pleasant colour. There is a double string course, and each arch is outlined with an archivolt which continues across the cutwater tops. The voussoirs are almost square, and the spandrels not large for such a solid bridge over a river which can be violent. [1]
