Comments :
The present Broomhill Bridge has fifteen spans and the piers are timber trestles. Nine of these stand in the water, with three on the south bank and two on the north. These timber trestles are built of five posts, the three central ones being perpendicular and the outer two set at an angle and faced with metal. Horizontal planking comes up half their height, and the top section is braced with diagonal members, one on each side. On top is an massive beam with rounded ends, and on this, set transversally, are five beams supporting the road timbers. The five piers over the main river channel have triangular trusses above. [1]
